In addition to an extensive list of 30+ originals, Syd also occasionally incorporates Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Dennis Brown and Gregory Isaacs covers into his performances. Also playing Reggae renditions of popular songs by The Beatles and Bob Dylan to name a few.
Syd Perry has toured across Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, India, Australia, South Africa, Mozambique, Eswatini, Lesotho, Kenya, Uganda, England, Canada, Jamaica, México, the Hawaiian Islands, the Virgin Islands and the United States.
Having performed in countless restaurants, bars, cafes, hotels, resorts, festivals, private events, corporate events, weddings, in-store performances and on-call performances.
His music and his mission is intended to uplift, enlighten and empower people everywhere through the message and livity (way of life) of RasTafari.
Syd Perry has toured the world (20 countries across 5 continents) bringing uplifting, conscious, live acoustic Roots Reggae music everywhere he goes and is still doing so. All with no management, tour manager, booking agent, funding or sponsorship, Syd has managed to continue to spread his music and his message across the globe.
The Food Security Jamaica initiative began with a goal to provide food and food trees to communities in need across the island of Jamaica. The project began with a donation of various baby fruit trees, which were purchased from a nursery in Portland and then transported to the underprivileged and neglected ghetto of Trench Town where they were planted in a community garden, all at the personal expense of Syd Perry. Trees that were planted included avocado, plantain, soursop, coconut and several others. While this initiative was cut short by the 2021-2025 World Tour, Syd has plans to relaunch the project again in the future, in Jamaica and other parts of the world.
Food Security Jamaica Project (2021)
The Crime-Free Jamaica Campaign initiative, started with a tour of primary schools, providing them with a free, informative and culturally relevant performance. Offering students a chance to hear acoustic Roots Reggae music with messages and teachings of Marcus Garvey (Jamaica’s original National Hero) and Haile Selassie I (Emperor of Ethiopia) to help instill a sense of African pride & identity. As well as speaking about the benefits of a Crime-Free Jamaica. The initiative then took form of various 1-minute segments on CVM TV where Syd Perry not only performed a piece of the song of the same name, he also spoke on revolutionizing the island into a state of nonviolence to achieve a Crime-Free Jamaica.
